ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT FOR TINNITUS/VERTIGO

WHAT IS TINNITUS (Ringing in the Ears)?
Tinnitus is the sensation of hearing ringing, buzzing, hissing, chirping, whistling, or other sounds. You may hear the noise all the time, or it may come and go, and it can vary in loudness. It may be in one ear or both. It's often worse when background noise is low, so you may be most aware of it when you're trying to fall asleep in a quiet room.
WHAT IS VERTIGO (A Sensation of Spinning or Dizziness)?
Vertigo is a sensation that you or the world around you is spinning. It's usually a symptom of a problem with the part of your inner ear or brain that keeps you balanced. Treating a connected health issue may help to relieve vertigo.
Tinnitus and vertigo share a distinct relationship. Both conditions affect the inner ear and even the brain. Vertigo causes balance issues due to the way it affects the inner ear. Although it's not as common as vertigo, tinnitus can also lead to problems with balance.

Let us explore why DIZZINESS is the most common reason why people all over the world seek medical help
Dizziness impacts your balance and can manifest in various ways, leading to feelings of unsteadiness, spinning, or overall disorientation. You might experience sensations like lightheadedness, nausea, wooziness, or a fainting feeling. To grasp the causes of dizziness, it's important to understand the functioning of the balance organ and the vestibular system:
THE BALANCE ORGAN
Inside your ears are three small semicircular canals filled with fluid and crystals, known as endolymph and otoliths, which move in response to your body's position. The utricle and saccule detect vertical and horizontal movements, together forming your balance organ to help you sense direction and motion.
THE VESTIBULAR SYSTEM
The balance organ works in conjunction with your vision and the muscles and joints throughout your body to give you a sense of balance and awareness your surroundings. This system is medically referred to as the vestibular system. Dizziness arises when there is an issue with the vestibular senses or the brain regions that link them.

Acupuncture is a centuries-old practice of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves inserting thin needles into specific body areas to reduce pain and enhance well-being.
Acupuncture has been explored as a complementary treatment for conditions like tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and vertigo (a sensation of spinning or dizziness), particularly when traditional treatments are limited. Traditionally, dizziness has been divided into four main categories, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians:

VERTIGO
Strong sense of motion or spinning

LIGHTHEADEDNESS
Woozy or disconnected from environment

DISEQUILIBRIUM
Feeling off-balance, unsteady or wobbly

PRESYNCOPE
A feeling of losing consciousness or about to faint
Dizziness caused inner ear problems may feel like vertigo, unsteadiness or lightheadedness. It may be constant or intermittent, and aggravated by certain head motions or sudden positional changes. Although nausea and vomiting may occur, people do not typically lose consciousness as a result of inner ear dizziness.
COMMON CAUSES OF DIZZINESS
Common causes of dizziness often stem from issues within the inner ear. Disruptions blood circulation or fluid pressure in the inner ear can result in dizziness and tinnitus. For instance, a severe cold can cause swelling in the inner ears, leading to episodes of dizziness.
INNER EAR ISSUES
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is a common inner ear disorder causing dizziness when crystals dislodge, with episodes lasting seconds to minutes and often resolving in days. Vestibular neuritis, another inner ear condition, leads to severe spinning, nausea, and vomiting due to inflammation of the vestibular nerve, with symptoms lasting hours to days. While not life-threatening, it's important to seek medical attention to rule out serious issues.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF YOU HAVE HEARING LOSS AND DIZZINESS?
Your balance and hearing are interconnected and share a common route to the brain. This is why various factors can lead to both dizziness and hearing loss, such as: severe allergies, bacterial or viral infections of the inner ear, medication side effects, and certain circulatory conditions.
